CE=%C+ + 

 

Calculation formula:The bigger the CE value of carbon equivalent is, the bigger the hardening tendency of steel is, and the worse the weldability of steel is. When CE < 0.4%, the hardening tendency of steel is not obvious and the weldability is good. When CE = 0.4%-0.6%, especially when CE is more than 0.5%, the steel is easy to harden, and the weldability is poor, so the crack can be prevented only by preheating during welding. When CE > 0.6%, the tendency of hardening and cold cracking of steel is serious, and the weldability is poor, so it is generally not used to produce welded structures.
